RAFOS uses ParentSquare for school communication, primarily through email, text messages, and app notifications. Each parent is automatically assigned an account using their preferred email address and phone number. We encourage parents to log in, download the mobile app, and customize their notification preferences.

This user-friendly platform allows schools to share important updates, announcements, and events in multiple formats, ensuring families stay informed. Parents can easily access information about school activities, volunteer opportunities, and upcoming events, strengthening their connection to the school community.

ParentSquare also enables seamless communication between school staff and parents, including one-on-one and group messaging with real-time language translation.

Crisis Communication and Safety

Our primary goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, staff, and visitors at the Rocklin Academy Family of Schools. Through a rapid, coordinated, and effective response, we can protect our community and plan for the continuity of education in the face of any emergency.

Crisis Communication

RAFOS has a crisis communication plan that leverages ParentSquare to deliver critical information and emergency alerts to families and staff, primarily via email, text, and app notifications. To ensure you receive the most up-to-date information during a crisis, please log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal to verify your contact details. Only individuals identified as the student's Educational Rights Holder can update contact information.

Safety

RAFOS is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, making it our top priority. The organization maintains a comprehensive crisis plan, with administrators actively monitoring and updating it as needed. Our schools also implement security measures to protect students and staff, including:

  • Visitor check-in procedures.
  • Locked doors after the start of the school day.
  • Surveillance cameras

Drills and Preparedness

Regular safety drills are essential to ensuring that students and staff are prepared for emergencies. In our schools, fire drills are conducted monthly at the elementary sites and twice a year at secondary schools to reinforce safety protocols. Additionally, lockdown/barricade drills take place twice a year; one earthquake and evacuation drills are conducted annually.

After each drill, schools typically send a message to families to inform them that it was a practice exercise. This helps alleviate concerns and keeps parents informed about the safety measures in place.

Frequently Asked Questions

How and when will I be notified of a crisis at my child’s school?

Effective communication is essential during an emergency. The method of immediate notification will depend on the nature of the crisis and its potential impact on student safety. Not every incident will warrant a notification, as responses are determined by the severity and specific circumstances of the situation. Each event is carefully assessed to ensure the appropriate communication response.

How can I receive timely and accurate notifications from my child’s school?

As a reminder, RAFOS uses ParentSquare for all school communication, including general updates and emergency notifications, primarily via email, text, and app alerts. To ensure you receive the most accurate information during a crisis, please keep your contact details up to date in your child’s PowerSchool Parent Portal.

We strongly encourage parents and guardians to log into their accounts, download the mobile app, and customize their notification preferences, including when and how they receive messages and their preferred language for translations.
